I am a qualified chartered counselling psychologist and clinical psychotherapist. I offer integrative, relational therapy to clients in the Brighton and Hove area. I also offer telephone and online therapy to clients in the UK and parts of Europe.

I work individually with adults and young people aged 18+.

As a practitioner, I aim to be a safe, steady presence for you. I view therapy as a collaborative partnership whereby we both make equally important contributions.

I work from beautiful, comfortable consulting rooms in Central Hove.

My professional interests include developmental neuroscience, personality issues, adolescence, early adulthood, and early relational trauma.

approach

My clinical stance is rooted in core psychological and interpersonal elements including early life experiences, close relationships, coping strategies and intrinsic capacities for positive change.

Therapy at Pathways Psychotherapy and Counselling in Brighton & Hove involves a combined method of several effective therapeutic treatments.

Clients receive practical, emotional support and assistance in developing insight into the roots of their issues.

Part of the therapeutic process may involve discovering inner growth and resilience, the processing of trauma and loss, and the discovery of adaptive, more flexible ways of being and living.

This type of treatment is firmly grounded in the evidence base and is shown to promote emotional healing for people suffering with a wide range of disorders and personal difficulties.

I believe a two-way, appropriately challenging, yet fundamentally affirming therapeutic alliance is our most essential and effective tool when it comes to addressing emotional, mental, and behavioural difficulties.

I'm an experienced and empathic therapist with a profound interest and belief in each person's uniqueness and potential.

Credentials

I have experience working within a range of settings in Brighton & Hove and surrounding areas in Sussex with people living with a broad range of challenges including depression, drug addiction, anxiety, phobias, gender and sexuality issues, trauma, parenting concerns, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transition process and loss.

[After going through a divorce] "Thank you for being there. You helped me keep it all together and to not lose sight of myself, or the boys"

"Coming here meant I started to feel less alone in my head. I've always struggled with thoughts about going mad. But you've made me realise that lots of people feel like I do sometimes, and talking with someone who understands my panic and anxiety has helped a lot."

"Although it felt hard at first to talk about how I was feeling, after a while we got to the thing that was probably really upsetting me, deep down. I'd felt so quietly ashamed for years, I never knew it was having such a big effect on me. I felt something begin to change from this point on and, for the first time, it's like I've got something I can hold onto which can help me through all the ups and downs."
